Is the 1988 Ovation 1988-P considered a full straight-out electric or acoustic guitar?
It's an "Acoustic-Electric". Since it has the ability to be plugged in, it sounds like he won't allow it. Since it's a shallow bowl - it doesn't sound that great unplugged anyway. Borrow somebody's real acoustic.

Any more most guitar companies have them. Ovation is just a marginal guitar at best. Try a Taylor or Gibson SST.
